IWOG was given an award by Family & Child on Internaitonal Women's Day 2014... watch the video
The Charity Organization Oikogeneia kai Paidi (Family and Child) organized an event entitled "The First Reunion of Pontics, Cretans, Macedonians, Thracians, Vlachs, Sarakatsanaioi and Islanders" on Saturday 8th March in the Ceremonial Hall of the Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki.
450 dancers, dressed in their traditional local costumes danced folk dances from all the above areas. In addition, and to mark the celebration of International Women's Day, awards were presented to women's organizations of Thessaloniki. IWOG was one of the chosen three to be honoured for its valuable work over the years.
The whole event was simultaneously streamed over the Internet, through Live Media, and seen by 63 Greek Diaspora Associations all over the world!
Our president Christa Anemoudi-Arzoglou received the honorary plaque from the Regional Counsellor of Central Macedonia Mr Apostolos Tzitzikostas on behalf of us all.
In her award speech she said:
"Women Volunteers of Greek and foreign origin, members of the IWOG, have always stood loyally in the forefront of Social Contribution. For the past 65 years, since its foundation, IWOG members have assisted various educational and philanthropic organizations of our city, with which it shares a common goal: to help and support vulnerable groups."
